Monster Hunter is one of those franchises that always seemed like it would be right at home on a PC, but for one reason or another, would always end up tied to a console. That is changing this year with Monster Hunter: World. This game was announced for PC and consoles at E3 2017, though a PC release date was not shared. Now, the development team has announced that PC optimization is under way, with a release window planned.
Monster Hunter: World is Capcom's big push to make the series popular in the west, as a result, it is releasing on all three major platforms- Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The PS4 and Xbox One will be getting the game on the 26th of January. Meanwhile, PC players will be able to pick up the game in ‘Autumn 2018', which will hopefully translate to a September release.

That is a long wait and we still don't know exactly what to expect from the game on PC. However, it sounds like the development team wants to ensure that it runs smoothly, allowing for a generous 8-9 month window for optimization.
As for the console version, the developers will be continuously supporting the game throughout the year with free content after launch. This will include new monsters to fight and hopefully new weapons/armor. Those holding out for the PC version will likely get this content baked into the base game when it arrives.
KitGuru Says: I was originally hoping for a March/April release for this game on PC. Unfortunately, that won't be the case so I'll likely end up starting the game on console. Still, if they are taking this much time with the PC version, then I guess that is a good sign that the development team wants to make sure they get it right. Are many of you looking forward to Monster Hunter: World? Will you be holding out for the PC version?
I have always tried to stay away from games where they make you wait for a long period of time between console & PC release the only exception was GTA V which I snapped up on launch day because I am a fan of the series. The wait was well worth it since the PC version worked very well and was a solid release and I was happy they took the time to perfect it.
Now this game I have never heard of & if this is the first version ever to be released on the PC maybe they need the time to get it right since we do not want another Batman type game release where it was so bad they had to pull it from sales and then release it many months later with it actually working as it should.
We can always talk about them “perfecting the game” but it’s more likely that they don’t want to drain console market, because even if they’ll add some features/debug, add personalization, this is not a lenghty process compared to what’s already done. They know well wedged pc gamers who can afford a high end pc probably has a console too and will buy it on the two platforms to get the upgrade.
