A new Dragon Age game is in development, but it might take a while

Back in June, there were reports of BioWare gearing up for a new title in the adventure RPG series Dragon Age. Today, these reports have seemingly been confirmed as prominent BioWare developers took to Twitter to bestow the pleasing news.

The first public tweet about the upcoming title came from Casey Hudson, who remained hush about the details of the upcoming title but confirmed it was live and will continue the character and storytelling focus of the previous titles. Hudson is notable for his work on the original Mass Effect trilogy and returned to BioWare as its General Manager after a three-year break.

Dragon Age: Inquisition executive producer Mark Durrah followed up with another tweet about EA’s upcoming Anthem, stating that he is currently taking the role of executive producer for that title and the unofficially announced Dragon Age title and confirming that BioWare was hard at work on both series.

Aside from that, not much is known other than the next Dragon Age will likely spend quite some time in production with Anthem as top priority. Unfortunately, it seems that Anthem is expected to see a delay from the third quarter of this year and could be looking at a 2019 release, meaning a new Dragon Age could take another couple of years on top of that.

KitGuru Says: The good news is that the series is seeing some love. As of yet, the title is still not officially confirmed by EA, but the interest must be there for developers to be working towards a sequel. What would you like to see from a new Dragon Age?

  1. Can’t wait to see what happens after the Trespasser DLC, i’m just hoping they take their time with the game and don’t repeat what they did with Andromeda.
