Corsair unleashes a wave of wireless peripherals

Corsair is prompting its fan base to ‘Unplug and Play’ at CES this year as it introduces a bunch of new wireless peripherals to its line-up. This includes a new gaming keyboard, gaming mouse, Qi wireless charging mouse pad and even a lapboard.

The company has carried three core principles across all of its new accessories. Each one will include a speedy 1ms response time, utilise low latency Bluetooth to connect to respective devices and make use of 2.4 GHz wireless charging technology.

The K63 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard takes the shape of a tenkeyless keyboard in that it drops the numpad in favour of a smaller form factor. The $109.99 keyboard comes with media keys that Corsair has helped popularise, Cherry MX Red switches, although more choices might appear down the line if the device proves popular and will last between 15 and 75 hours depending on how the user’s backlighting preferences.

Making use of this new keyboard from the comfort of your couch will be easy as Corsair is introducing its new K63 Wireless Gaming Lapboard, in which the K63 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard can simply be docked in and out of the left-hand side. Comfort is key, as the Lapboard features memory foam cushioning underneath, a padded wrist rest and a cloth mouse pad to the right. Coming to gamers soon, the Lapboard is pegged at a price of $59.

It seems Corsair has taken a page out of Logitech’s Powerplay Wireless charging, by introducing its own mouse and charging mouse pad combo, allowing gamers and workers to charge while still using the device.

This is done through the $79 MM1000 Qi Wireless Charging Mouse Pad, which is also compatible with any Qi-enabled device unlike its rival’s proprietary technology. The accessory also comes with a Qi dongle, enabling users to plug in to any microUSB, USB Type-C and Lightning compatible devices and charge even without integrated Qi capability.

Of course, the Dark Core RGB Gaming Mouse can be purchased for $79 and used separately to the Qi Wireless mouse pad, featuring a 16,000 DPI optical sensor, interchangeable side grips and three customisable RGB lighting zones. Without the MM1000 Qi Wireless Charging Mouse Pad, the Dark Core RGB will last up to 24 hours, although users can opt for a wired connection if they prefer.

KitGuru Says: I really liked the idea of Powerplay when I first heard of the charging combination while gamers are gaming, so it’s interesting to see other companies hop on board.
