Weighing in on the trend of mobile computing, ASUS has unveiled its new ProArt PQ22UC monitor, an Ultra HD monitor for professionals on-the-go. Along with 4K resolution, the new ProArt display boasts an OLED panel and HDR compatibility on a 21.6” screen.
Mobile gaming and workstations seem like tantalising ideas. Being able to chuck a high-powered machine into a carry case or backpack and be on your way, but what happens when you get to your desired destination? Professionals, or even gamers themselves are confined to a smaller screen, limiting work real estate and general vision.
This is where ASUS’ ProArt PQ22UC monitor comes in, sporting high-quality features that deliver the best possible colour reproduction while on-the-go, including true 10-bit colour, 99 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space and impeccable colour accuracy.
Alongside the detachable mechanical design, and weighing approximately 1kg, the ProArt PQ22UC is truly made portable through its power source. Instead of having to plug it into an outlet, the display is powered via a USB Type-C connector from the PC or laptop itself. For visuals, owners will a second USB Type-C to work with or a micro HDMI.
Of course, with professional grade hardware comes a steep price, with the ASUS ProArt PQ22UC breaking the $3,000 barrier. There’s no indication of when the display will begin shipping, but it is expected in Q1 2018.
KitGuru Says: I can only imagine what it would be like to edit an Ultra HD video on the ProArt PQ22UC, but I don’t feel that I do enough professionally to justify the workloads it’s built to handle.
