Monster Hunter World tops UK charts, has already sold 5 million copies worldwide

Last Friday, Monster Hunter World officially landed on consoles and so far, it looks like Capcom's big push to get the series noticed in the West has paid off. The UK games chart numbers are in for last week, with Monster Hunter beating out all other releases.

Chart-Track observed much higher week-one sales for Monster Hunter World compared to any other game in the series. In total, the game is said to have sold five million copies worldwide- an impressive feat given that the game had only been released for three days when sales counting started.

Last week's UK top 10 game sales were:

  1. Monster Hunter World.
  2. Dragon Ball FighterZ.
  3. Call of Duty: WWII.
  4. FIFA 18.
  5. Grand Theft Auto 5.
  6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
  7. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
  8. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
  9. Rocket League: Collectors Edition.
  10. The Inpatient.

The Chart-Track statistics only count physical game copies sold, so the numbers could look a bit different if digital sales were counted. Either way though, it looks like Monster Hunter managed to beat out Friday's other major release, Dragon Ball FighterZ.

KitGuru Says: I played a few hours of Monster Hunter World over the weekend and so far, it's a very impressive game. The only downside for me is that grouping up with friends to do missions together feels very clunky. Either way though, I'm glad to see the series finally doing well over here. Did any of you pick up Monster Hunter World last week?
