Dark Souls Remastered is coming to current platforms, including Nintendo Switch

Given the impact that Dark Souls has had on gaming since its 2011 debut, it was just a matter of time before we’d see the title remastered. It seems that it only took one generation for that decision to be made, as Dark Souls Remastered has been officially announced.

FromSoftware’s Dark Souls gained fame, or rather infamy, for being a challenging title that was unforgiving to players that made mistakes. Mixing brutal, methodical gameplay with its macabre atmosphere made for a game that etched itself into the minds of players who either quit out of frustration or persevered, earning bragging rights in the process.

While the original title is aging and could be considered clunky in comparison to that of its successors, Dark Souls is set to receive a remaster according to the latest Nintendo Direct, bringing it up to date with the other games in the Souls series. This was followed by a tweet from publisher Bandai Namco on its Spanish account, stating that Dark Souls Remastered is set to arrive on May 25th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC as well as the Nintendo Switch.

KitGuru Says: The original PC port was notoriously badly done in comparison to its console counterparts, so it would be interesting to see how well the title performs on release day. I am concerned about the Switch release, as I can imagine many a broken console for newcomers. Are you excited for the Dark Souls Remaster?
