CES: First look at HyperX Predator IR Synchronized DDR4 RGB RAM

CES 2018 has kicked off and we are already starting to see some exciting announcements. Today, HyperX launched its new Predator DDR4 RGB Memory, which leverages IR technology to synchronize lighting across all channels.

This new HyperX Predator memory has IR communication channels embedded onto each memory module, allowing for the LEDs to remain in sync. You can check out how the modules look in the images below. In addition to the IR synchronized RGB lighting control, these Predator DDR4 RGB modules support multiple profiles when plugged into motherboards with compatible RGB control software. This includes ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and MSI Mystic Light. Aside from motherboards, case makers like In-Win are also adding new RGB lighting features built directly into the chassis.

In the images above, you'll see a piece of card between the pairs of ram. This is to block the IR and demonstrate the colors drifting because the IR is an active effect. These particular DIMMS are optimized for Intel platforms but we were told at CES that a Ryzen SKU will be coming in April. Speeds for the AMD version aren't finalized yet but we would guess that they'll be around the 2933MHz mark.

KitGuru Says: Kingston's new HyperX Predator RGB RAM will begin shipping out in Q2 this year. I've been using the Trident Z RGB kit myself for a little while and I must admit, it helps make the build look a lot better all around. It'll be nice to see the HyperX modules up close and personal in order to compare- the additional support for Asus, Gigabyte and MSI lighting systems also makes it a more versatile option.
