Far Cry 5’s PC system requirements are here

Far Cry is making a comeback this year. This time around, rather than traveling to some distant exotic land as we saw in Far Cry 3, 4 and Primal, Far Cry 5 will take players on a trip around Montana, where some gun-sporting cultists are taking over. The game is coming out in March, so it is finally time to start discussing the PC version's system requirements.

Ubisoft has released its minimum, recommended and 4K spec requirements for Far Cry 5. The minimum system spec will get you up and running at 720p with low settings, while the recommended spec targets 1080p and 60 frames per second at high settings.

Minimum Specs:

• OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only).
• CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD FX-6300.
• GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 or AMD R9 270 (or better).
• RAM: 8GB.

Recommended Specs:

OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only).
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600.
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD R9 290X (or better).
RAM: 8GB.

For those looking to enjoy the game at 4K, then you'll want to check out the following requirements. The first should get you up and running at 3840×2160 at 30 frames per second, meanwhile the second set of 4K specs target 60 frames per second, though you'll need a dual-GPU system to achieve that.

4K 30FPS specs:

OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X.
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD RX Vega 56 (or better).
RAM: 16GB.

4K 60FPS specs:

OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K or AMD Ryzen 7 1700X.
GPU: GTX 1080 SLI or AMD RX Vega 56 CrossFire.
RAM: 16GB.

Ubisoft will be ‘officially supporting' graphics cards as far back as the GTX 670 on the Nvidia side, so as long as you have something as recent as that, you should be okay. On the AMD side, Ubisoft is supporting GPUs as far back as the Radeon R9 270. The PC version of Far Cry 5 will come with an in-built benchmarking tool, so you'll be able to adjust settings and ensure you are getting the desired performance before jumping in to the main game.

KitGuru Says: Far Cry 5 is coming out on the 27th of March and I have some high hopes for it so far. Requiring dual-GPUs to hit 4K/60 is a bit of a let down though, particularly since the GTX 1080Ti has done a good job of hitting that target on its own in many titles over the last year.
