With the announcement that Microsoft are set to bring a select number of their exclusive Xbox titles to PlayStation and Switch, many fans wondered just how much the publisher would allow its teams to take advantage of these competing pieces of hardware. Fortunately, it seems as though the power of the PS5 will be fully utilised, adding DualSense features and more.
As shared by Resetera user Joule, the PlayStation 5 version of Obsidian Entertainment’s Pentiment seems to take full advantage of the console’s unique hardware. Presumably using the console’s Kraken compression technology, the game takes up just 6.37GB compared to the Xbox version’s 11.4GB.
Great things come in small packages, and despite being a unique selling point for the PS5, Pentiment actually offers support for the DualSense’s features (advanced haptics etc…) – an unexpected yet welcome surprise indeed.
Finally, the PS5 version of the game can run at 120fps on supported displays. Of all the aforementioned Exclusive features, this one will most likely find its way to the Xbox versions at some point in the future.
Still, it is highly encouraging to see that Xbox devs are willing to use PS5’s unique hardware advantages.
