Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has a PC release date, new gameplay and beta details

Back in 2015, Games Workshop found a hit on its hands with the launch of Warhammer: Vermintide. The left 4 Dead style co-op title ended up selling very well and even eventually spread to consoles. A sequel has been in the works for some time now, helmed by developer ‘Fatshark'. Now, we finally have a release date, with Vermintide 2 set to hit the PC in March.

Fatshark announced today that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 would be coming to Steam on the 8th of March. Much like the original game, it is a first-person co-op horde fighter set in the Warhammer End Times universe. This time around though, you'll be taking on the Chaos armies in addition to plenty of Skaven warriors. To celebrate the announcement, a new gameplay video was put out, showing off The Tempest character:

From what we've seen so far, Vermintide 2 will retain the same general gameplay formula from the first game. However, we'll have some new characters and enemies thrown in to mix things up a bit. One thing that Fatshark was quick to point out last year is that Vermintide 2 will not feature loot box microtransactions.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will head to the PC on the 8th of March but those who pre-order will get a chance to try out the beta on the 28th of February. A console release likely won't be too far behind, but currently we don't have a date for the Xbox One of PS4 versions.

KitGuru Says: I had a lot of fun in the original Vermintide, so if I can get a group together, I'll likely be jumping back in for the sequel. Did any of you play Vermintide when it came out? Will you be returning for Vermintide 2?
