Sea of Thieves system requirements are here, with targets for 540p, 720p, 1080p and 4K

Sea of Thieves is just over a month away from launch. The final beta test has wrapped up, microtransaction plans have been laid out, and now it is time to take a look at the various system requirements, including recommended hardware for 1080p/60, 4K/60 and even sub-HD resolutions.

Rare is hoping to open up Sea of Thieves to as wide a player base as possible. As a result, there are system requirements in place for 540p/30 frames per second gameplay in addition to 720p/30. You can see the requirements below:

540p/30:

  • CPU: Anything with Intel Iris 540 graphics or newer.
  • RAM: 4GB.
  • HDD: 60GB.
  • Graphics settings: Minimum.

720p/30:

  • CPU: Intel Q9450 or AMD Phenom II X6.
  • RAM: 4GB.
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 or Radeon 7750.
  • Graphics settings: Low.

For 1080p at 30 frames per second, you'll need fourth gen Intel Core i3 or AMD FX-6300, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 660 or or R9 270. At this spec, players will be able to crank graphics up to medium settings.

Now we can get into the meatier specs. As PC gamers, most of us will be shooting for 1080p/60 if not higher resolutions and frame rates, so here are the recommended specs for that:

1080p/60:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 4960 or AMD FX-8150.
  • RAM: 8GB.
  • GPU: GTX 770 or AMD R9 390x.
  • Graphics settings: Medium.

4K/60:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600.
  • RAM: 16GB.
  • GPU: GTX 1080Ti or RX Vega 64.
  • Graphics settings: Ultra.

Reading between the lines a bit, it seems that those of you with a GTX 1070 or RX Vega 56 should be able to get decent 4K performance at reduced graphics settings. Alternatively, 1440p performance should also be pretty high.

KitGuru Says: Having played the beta, Sea of Thieves doesn't strike me as a particularly demanding game. Judging by the system requirements sheet, Rare has spent some time making sure that even PC gamers on a tight budget can run the game, albeit at low settings. Are any of you planning on grabbing Sea of Thieves when it launches next month?
