It’s interesting to see how far handsets have come over the years, giving users a miniature computer in the palm of their hands alongside the traditional texting and calling functionality. Unfortunately, some iPhone X users don’t have access to the latter feature, as complaints that the £1,000 smartphone begin to crop up.
Users are taking to Apple’s Support Forums to seek answers as to why their vastly expensive iPhone X has lost the ability to receive calls. This is apparently due to a display bug causing a delay that removes their ability to accept or deny the incoming caller.
“Whenever I receive an incoming call in my iPhone X, ringtones start but the display comes on after 6-8 seconds,” one user explains. “Whenever I restart my iPhone X the problems get automatically solved and after 15-20 calls the same problem starts again.”
This user also notes that they have tried various fixes such as a hard and soft reset of the device to no avail. Another user describes a fix in the form of a restore to a fresh copy of the iOS 11.2 update. This seems to have worked for one user for a number of hours, however another explains that the problem persists again after a couple of days pass.
“Most of iPhone X users are facing these issues including my friends and colleagues. There is also another issue I found with proximity sensor while in call,” replies Apple Support Forum user Harisharul. “The display doesn’t come back on even when I take away the phone from my ears while on call.”
If Harisharul's word isn't enough, there are plenty more people going on to describe how widespread the issue seems to be with one user stating that they sold their original affected iPhone X and bought a brand new device of the same model, only to see the exact same problem once again.
The cause of the bug has yet to be revealed, however Apple has revealed to The Financial Times that it is aware of the problem and looking into the current reports. Unfortunately, iPhone X users might need to hold on tight while a fix is, hopefully, inbound.
KitGuru Says: Considering the price of the iPhone X, problems like these always feel worse than they would with any other device but to be completely fair to Apple, there hasn’t been many problems surrounding the expensive handset at all. Have you had any issues with your iPhone X?
