Sticking to tradition, leaks of Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ have given us a closer look at the handsets before their official launch later this month. The latest comes, yet again, courtesy of serial leaker Evan Blass who reveals that there are potentially four colour variants to choose from.
The leaks give us our best look at the device yet, showcasing the revised fingerprint sensor placement alongside a first look at Samsung’s Lilac Purple colour option. The fingerprint sensor was one of the main concerns of Galaxy users, who often noted that the original placement to the side of the camera was awkward to reach. Samsung hopes to alleviate this concern for returning users by now placing it below the camera instead.

Both devices remain extremely similar in design, with the size difference not accurately showcased. One of the fundamental differences that can be seen in the images, is that the smaller Galaxy S9 will sport a single camera lens, whereas its bigger counterpart, the Galaxy S9+ will place more emphasis on its camera functionality with a dual lens. Samsung has more in store for its camera features, but we will have to wait until the launch event to see what Samsung has up its sleeve.
Evan “EVLeaks” Blass has claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will arrive in four different colours, giving the option for a traditional Midnight Black, Lilac Purple as seen above, Titanium Gray and Coral Blue, alongside “the usual lineup of special/limited edition finishes.” Both the colours and their regional availability have yet to be confirmed, so take this information with a pinch of salt for the time being.
Samsung will debut its Galaxy S9 range during the Mobile World Congress on February 25th, with the devices expected to go on sale shortly after.
KitGuru Says: It’s nice to see that smartphone manufacturers are offering greater colour options, as the showcased Lilac Purple looks great, in my opinion. I’m curious as to see what Coral Blue might look like on the device, but instead can’t get The Walking Dead memes out of my head for long enough to picture it. Are you looking forward to what Samsung has in store for its Galaxy S9 series?
