The Android Oreo update is starting to roll out to Galaxy S8 owners

It has been several months since we last received an update on the status of Samsung's Android Oreo update for the Galaxy S8. In October we learned that the update was scheduled for ‘early 2018' and in November the update went into beta. Now the finalized Android 8.0 Oreo update is being pushed out to Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets this month.

Samsung's beta testing period for the Oreo update ended two weeks ago. Now, as reported by Sammobile, the final version of the software is starting to roll out to the public, so if you own a Galaxy S8, be on the look out for an incoming update.

Android Oreo launched late last year alongside the Google Pixel 2. As usual, smartphone makers have taken a while to test and begin pushing out the update to their own users. The Oreo rollout for the Galaxy S8 has already kicked off in Germany, and we should see this spread to other regions fairly soon.

The Galaxy S8 Oreo update weights in at 487MB, and contains the latest February 2018 security patch. The update contains permission monitoring for background apps, multitasking features, a pin or snooze notifications option, keyboard improvements and more.
