Call of Duty Black Ops 4 had a surprising tease last night

After the success of Call of Duty: WWII and the return to ‘boots on ground' style gameplay, we've been left wondering what's next for the series. This year's Call of Duty instalment will be handled by Treyarch and not so surprisingly, this has led to rumors of Black Ops 4. So far, several sources have confirmed that this will be the next game in the series, but last night we received another one to add to the list.

It's not often that I get to write about the NBA here, so this is a unique opportunity for me. Last night, there was a big game against two major teams, OKC Thunder and the Houston Rockets. En route to the game, Rockets Allstar, James Harden, was spotted dressed up in full camo with a hat brandishing the Black Ops logo. However, rather than following the traditional roman numerical system as the series has been doing, the Black Ops 4 logo is IIII instead of IV.

It is not uncommon for Activision to get celebrities involved in Call of Duty marketing, or even playing parts in the game's campaign mode. Kotaku confirmed that the Black Ops 4 logo will be IIII instead of IV, which seems like an odd choice. However, there is no confirmation on whether or not Harden will be an actor in the game.

While originally it was thought that Black Ops would dial back on futurism due to the success of WWII, Kotaku's report claims that the game will take place in a near-future setting. We don't know what that means for gameplay just yet, at the very least, we may see jetpacks go, but aside from that, weapons and gadgets will likely remain.

KitGuru Says: Given that Treyarch is at the helm this year, Black Ops 4 makes perfect sense. However, having the logo being IIII instead of IV, does not. Still, there is still some time left before Activision makes its official announcement, so perhaps things could change a little between now and April.
