It’s official, Geralt of Rivia will appear in Soul Calibur VI

Over the last couple of weeks, CD Projekt Red has been teasing that we'll see Geralt of Rivia return this year in some form. Many had already guessed that he would make an appearance in Soul Calibur VI as a playable character but today it was made official, complete with a full trailer. Kaer Morhen will also be a playable arena in the game.

Soul Calibur VI is the latest game in Bandai Namco's ongoing fighting game series. There have been third-party character cameos in the past, with the likes of Yoda and Darth Vader joining the roster in Soul Calibur IV, and comic book character ‘Spawn' appearing in Soul Calibur II. This time around, Bandai Namco has teamed up with CD Projekt Red to bring The White Wolf into the series. You can see the character reveal trailer below:

The trailer is mainly cinematic, but it does give us a good idea of what to expect from Geralt in terms of moves and abilities. Geralt will have his sword skills on display, but he will also be able to take advantage of potions and Witcher signs.

Naturally, Kaer Morhen will also be an arena in the game, which is where Geralt grew up and learned the ways of the Witcher. Geralt retains his original English voice actor, Doug Cockle, and the ‘Hunt or be Hunted' track from The Witcher III's soundtrack will also be present in the game.

Soul Calibur VI doesn't have a final release date just yet, but the game is announced for 2018.

KitGuru Says: I've been a fan of the Soul Calibur games since playing the second one on the original Xbox. I haven't revisited the series since Soul Calibur IV, but with Geralt appearing in this one, I may just need to jump back in.
