The Galaxy S9 gets European and US pricing ahead of official MWC reveal

Ever since CES, we've known that Samsung was planning to launch the Galaxy S9 in late February at MWC. Since then, we've had plenty of leaks, including images, specifications, a hands-on AMA and now, we even know how much the phone will cost here in Europe. We had previously heard that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ could end up being more expensive than their S8 counterparts, but now we appear to know the full extent of it.

The ever-reliable Evan Blass (Evleaks) took to Twitter last night to confirm that the base Galaxy S9 will sell for €841 in Europe, while the larger Galaxy S9+ will go for €997. Over in the US, the base Galaxy S9 will retail for $725 directly from Samsung, so it would appear that Europeans do end up paying a bit more. Part of that will be the cost of sales tax/VAT, which often isn't shown on US online listings as sales tax varies from state to state.

Even in Europe, pricing will still vary a bit from country to country, so there may be a slight difference depending on where you are and which carrier or retailer you buy from. We don't have UK pricing yet, but hopefully some light will be shed on that later this week, when Samsung's official Unpacked event takes place.

The Galaxy S9 will be officially unveiled on the 25th of February, during the press day ahead of MWC's official kick-off on Monday.
