Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is headed to Xbox One

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice debuted in August of last year, picking up numerous awards and gaining recognition for its depiction of mental health. Previously, it had only been available to PC and PlayStation 4 players but the developer has now revealed that the title is headed to Xbox One and Xbox One X on April 11th.

While HDR is available on both iterations of the Xbox One, Xbox One X players in particular will be treated to three separate performance modes, called High Resolution, High Framerate and Enhanced Visuals.

High Resolution pushes the game up to 4K through the use of dynamic scaling. High Framerate gives the player a silky smooth 60 frames per second. Enhanced Visuals, however, is a little more mysterious, offering extra effects and visual qualities not found in the base title. Ninja Theory did not elaborate on what these effects were.

For those unaware, Hellblade takes Norse warrior battling wretched creatures to save the soul of her dead lover from the goddess Hela. Throughout the game, Ninja Theory explores the themes of mental illness and psychosis to critical acclaim, bringing to life a compassionate end result that has been lauded by many as a respectful depiction.

The title is currently available to pre-order on the Xbox Store, with a 10 percent discount off its normal £25/€30/$30 price for those committing to the purchase early, this week.

KitGuru Says: This is one title I never got the chance to dive into, but always had it in the corner of my eye. For those of you who finally have a chance to play Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, will you picking the title up?
