Persona 3 Reload devs apologise for lack of P3P content

Persona 3 Reload released last month to a wave of critical and commercial success – quickly becoming the biggest ATLUS game on Steam. That said, one of the remake’s core complaints comes in its lack of Persona 3 Portable content – in particular the female main character. Following the announcement of Reload’s upcoming DLC, the dev team have apologised for the omission.

As shared by Persona Central, in the most recent issue of Persona Magazine general producer Kazuhisa Wada and director Yu Hashizume sat down to discuss the recently-announced Episode Aegis DLC.

Veering off topic slightly, the devs were asked “The fans were hoping for Episode Aigis to be remade as expanded content to P3R, but another thing that P3 fans have been hoping for is the implementation of the female protagonist from P3P into P3R. Is there a possibility of this happening?” to which Wada responded:

“I'll begin with an apology, but unfortunately, the appearance of the female protagonist in P3R will not happen. Of course, we considered the inclusion of the female protagonist alongside Episode Aigis, but the more we delved into it, the more hopeless it seemed… The development time and costs would likely be two to three times that of Episode Aigis, making it challenging to entrust entirely to external companies and exceeding our capabilities.”

Wada continued, claiming that even if both P3R and Episode Aegis were to be smash hits, the team’s desire and expectations to look forward and focus on future projects means that it simply will not happen. While a shame, fans of Reload wanting more from the world of Persona 3 will still have the PSP game to go back to.
