Final Fantasy XVI Rising Tide DLC is coming out on April 18th

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been stealing the spotlight recently but there is still plenty of new content coming for players of last year's major release, Final Fantasy 16. The Rising Tide expansion was announced a few months ago and now, we have an April release date, as well as a glimpse into what fans can expect from Clive's new adventure.

Final Fantasy 16 was released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 last year, with very good reviews. After seeing its success, Yoshi-P (producer) and the team over at Square Enix announced the game would get post-launch content via DLCs. The first expansion for the game was Echoes of the Fallen, released in December, and The Rising Tide will follow in April.

Square Enix revealed more details about The Rising Tide. The DLC will introduce new features, including an increased level cap of 60 for the Story and Action-Focused modes and 110 for Final Fantasy mode, a higher difficulty level unlocked after beating the game with ‘remixed' boss fights. Clive will also receive new Eikon abilities (Leviathan), while players seeking endgame content will enjoy more challenges and leaderboards in a new expansion called Kairos Gate. In addition, there will be new side quests, weapons, and a “reimagined version” of the Curtana from Final Fantasy 14, as well as “Torn from the Heavens” and “Through the Maelstrom” Orchestrion Rolls for the hideout.

As for the patch 1.30, it will bring numerous improvements including:

  • Return to a quest giver immediately with the new “Quick Complete” function
  • Icon updates for important character quests
  • A new Skill Set feature, which allows players to save up to five unique Feat and Ability sets
  • Abilities and Accessories adjusted for easier use
  • New “Custom” controller type allows for freely customizable button layouts
  • Tone correction, screen effects, and more added to Photo Mode
  • Numerous new orchestrion rolls added

The Rising Tide will be available for purchase standalone or as part of the Final Fantasy 16 Expansion Pass for £19.99/€24.99/$24.99.
