Baldur’s Gate 3 wins Game of The Year award at GDC

The 2024 Game Developers Choice Awards have been announced, recognising some of last year's best video games. Baldur's Gate 3 took home the coveted Game of the Year award and three other awards, including Best Narrative, Best Design, and the Audience Award.

Competing head-to-head with Baldur's Gate 3 was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which received seven nominations, ultimately winning the Innovation and Best Technology awards. Venba also won big, taking home the Best Debut and Social Impact awards. Other winners included Hi-Fi Rush for Best Audio and Alan Wake 2 for Best Visual Art.

The Game Developers Choice Awards honoured two industry legends. Fawzi Mesmar received the Ambassador Award for his years working and contributing to titles like Battlefield, Candy Crush, Mario Rabbids, Star Wars, and Persona. Meanwhile, Yoko Shimomura was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to the gaming industry through her musical compositions for games like Street Fighter II, Final Fight, The King of Dragons, Live A Live, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XV, Super Mario RPG, and Legends of Mana.
