A few months ago, the folks at PUBG Corp began rolling out a mobile version of its hit Battle Royale game in China. Now, that same mobile version is finally spreading to the west, starting off with a ‘soft launch' in Canada.
A beta version of PUBG Mobile landed on the Google Play Store in Canada last night. The reason the test is being limited to one country is so that the developers can test stability and scale up as it introduces more players. Aside from that, it is usually a good way for developers to gauge how much interest there is in the app.
News of PUBG Mobile heading to the west shortly follows on from Epic Games' announcement that Fortnite Battle Royale will also be heading to mobile. Closed beta invites have already been sent out to iOS users for Fortnite BR, so it looks like the two companies will continue to compete head to head in the mobile space, in addition to PC and console.
As far as gameplay goes, nothing has changed about PUBG on mobile compared to PC or console. You still parachute on to the classic Erangel map with 100 other players, gear up and try to be the last one alive. The main difference is of course, the touch-screen controls, which is expected.

KitGuru Says: If you have an Android device and want to see how PUBG runs on your phone, then the region lock is easy enough to bypass with a VPN and a Canadian Google account. If you get the chance to try it, let us know what you think of it in the comments.
