Port-a-Fort grenades and a Replay system make their way into Fortnite

While battle royale games are slowly becoming a dime a dozen, Fortnite has always kept its edge with a unique crafting system that allows players to search, scavenge and fight using materials to construct forts and paths. There are plenty of other additions in its latest v3.5 patch, such as a Replay system, a new limited time mode and additional heroes, however the Port-a-Fort grenades in particular aims to dull the learning curve by giving players instant access to a pre-built fort.

The Port-a-Fort grenade seems like it is built for situational use, when players are low on resources or in a tight spot that construction can become dangerous or time consuming. It also seems like it is a direct counter to the remote controlled rockets, giving enemies greater difficult in navigating towards their target.

Fortnite’s latest Limited Time Mode brings back 50 players against 50 players better than ever before, called 50v50 v2. While the name can initially seem confusing, this second version separates teams into two different Battle Buses, adds in more loot for balancing purposes and introduces a more aggressive storm to keep players moving for a quicker, faster paced game.

Players will also be able to get their hands on four new “Cyberpunk Heroes,” alongside a range of weapon skins suited to their neon theme. This comes alongside the new quests introduced in Into the Storm: Opening Act, which is part one in Epic Games’ latest event.

The most interesting part of the recent patch, however, is the addition of Replays. The addition of several camera modes gives the game cinematic value, along with a plethora of editing tools such as adjustable playback speed, and player outlines and name plates to help the budding directors and cinematographers out there “tell your story better.”

With a suite of cinematic settings you can now capture your most memorable moments, highlights and cinematics,” Reads Epic’s patch notes. “We can’t wait to see what you create. You have an opportunity to win phenomenal prizes with the Replay system… very soon.

Of course, the title has also been endowed with a range of performance and bug fixes on its console versions that help increase Fortnite’s longevity. While it seems that PC players are missing out on this portion, patch sizes have been reduced for the Battle Royale portion of Fortnite.

KitGuru Says: It’s good to see that Fortnite is taking as much away from PUBG as Battlegrounds is taking from it. Trading its spectator cams for a thorough replay system makes both titles much better in the long run. How many of you will make use of the new Replay system? Do you have any videos in the works?
