Intel Core i9-14900KS to be released on March 14th

Intel's new desktop processor, the Core i9-14900KS, is set to launch soon. This will probably end up being the last high-end CPU for the LGA-1700 socket and the last desktop CPU to use Intel's previous naming scheme, as desktop CPUs will soon transition to Intel's new ‘Core Ultra' branding..

We have been hearing a lot about this CPU recently, especially since it has already been shipped to distributors and overclockers. According to VideoCardz, the new Core i9-14900KS will be available on March 14th. This release date falls within the same timeframe as previous KS series CPUs, with the 12900KS launching on April 5th, 2022, and the 13900KS launching on January 12th, 2023.

The Core i9-14900KS is a slight improvement over the current i9-14900K SKU. It features a 24C/32T configuration with 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores. The CPU is expected to reach 6.2GHz on two cores, although it may require a high voltage. Intel has not yet announced the price for the 14900KS SKU, but the last two releases had the same MSRP of $739, so this model is not likely to be any different.

As we previously mentioned, the LGA-1700 platform will be phased out by the end of the year as Intel prepares to release the LGA-1851 socket, a new chipset, and new desktop CPUs (Arrow Lake). If history serves us right, this change in the company's product line implies that the LGA-1700 platform is unlikely to receive any substantial improvements in the future.
