G.Skill launches new Trident Z and Sniper X memory tuned for 2nd Gen Ryzen

Today is launch day for AMD's 2nd Gen Ryzen processors, meaning the new CPUs and X470 motherboards have hit store shelves and begun shipping out to customers. To help bolster the launch, G.Skill has launched some new memory kits, bringing higher speed DDR4 to the new X470 platform.

There are two new RAM options coming in from G.Skill. For starters, there will be Trident Z RGB memory tuned for AMD's X470 platform, and there will also be a line of ‘Sniper X' memory modules.

Specifications start from DDR4-3200MHz CL16-18-18-38 in a 16GB (2x8GB) kit, and goes all the way up to DDR4-3600MHz CL18-22-22-42 16GB (2x8GB), pushing faster memory speeds than before onto AMD powered systems.

For X470 optimised Trident Z kits, you'll need to find model numbers ending in TZRX. Meanwhile, all Sniper X memory kits have X470-specific optimisations, which are helped by the latest IMC found on 2nd Gen Ryzen chips.

All of G.Skill's stress testing took place on the ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero X470 motherboard, which is the current flagship. The screenshot above will show you Trident X RGB RAM running at 3600MHz on a system featuring this board and a Ryzen 2700 processor. All new memory modules should start shipping out this month, so if you're planning a new build, then keep an eye out.

KitGuru Says: G.Skill makes excellent memory and is well known for pushing speed boundaries, so it will be interesting to see how far it can take things with Ryzen 2nd Gen. Things seem to be off to a solid start, with speeds of up to 3600MHz out of the gate. Are any of you planning on building a new PC now that Ryzen 2nd Gen is out?
