John ‘TotalBiscuit’ Bain has sadly passed away

It's a sad day for the gaming industry at large as last night, John ‘TotalBiscuit' Bain unfortunately passed away. TB had been battling with cancer for the last few years but continued to make videos, host tournaments and be a strong pro-consumer voice for gamers.

Since the news broke, figures across the games industry have been paying tribute, ranging from fellow YouTubers, to studios and publishers. His wife and business partner, Genna Bain, also offered a few words on Twitter.

I never had the chance to know TB personally, but he did include a link to one of my articles in a tweet one time- it might seem small, but as a long time fan, that ended up being a proud moment for me. Over the years, his strong pro-consumer stance has influenced me greatly, and his ‘WTF Is' series was often a great source for discovering new games and broadening my horizons.

TotalBiscuit started his career back in 2005 as a host for World of Warcraft Radio. Later on, he turned his attention to YouTube, where he covered the WoW Cataclysm expansion, collaborated on Let's Play videos, critiqued many video games, introduced the long running Co-Optional Podcast and tackled industry topics. Outside of YouTube, he was also a figurehead for StarCraft 2 as an esport, having owned a team known as ‘Axiom', casted on tournaments and even hosted his own.

KitGuru Says: Rest in peace TB, you built quite the legacy over the years and will be missed. Our condolences go out to his family in this difficult time.
