Assassin's Creed games have a habit of leaking well in advance of announcement. That changed this year, with very little being said about the next game in the series. Unfortunately, Ubisoft couldn't quite make it all the way until E3 without the surprise getting out.
It looks like Assassin's Creed will be reverting back to its yearly release schedule. This year's game is called ‘Assassin's Creed Odyssey' and will take place in ancient Greece. The leak originally came from upcoming Assassin's Creed merchandise, which was spotted by French site, JeuxVideoLive. Following the leak, Ubisoft was quick to confirm that Assassin's Creed Odyssey was real, and will be at E3 this year.

As usual, the sleuths at Kotaku have a few extra details on hand that had not yet been reported. According to sources who have played the game, Odyssey will build on Origins' RPG mechanics even further, bringing dialogue options to the series for the first time. We don't know how these dialogue choices will affect the game, but as an RPG fan this sounds like a good direction.
The game unfortunately won't feature Bayek or Aya as playable characters, and will instead introduce two new heroes. Players will once again be able to choose between going through the game as either a male or female protagonist.
KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed Origins, so I already have high hopes for Odyssey. I'm also very intrigued by the potential for dialogue options, which could lead to greater replayability and multiple endings if done correctly.
