Fortnite for Nintendo Switch leaked via an update to the eShop

Fortnite is the biggest game in the world right now, with the free-to-play behemoth boasting over 45 million players worldwide. Thanks to some data mining of the latest Nintendo eShop update, it was revealed that Fortnite will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, confirming the last few months of rumours.

SciresM on Twitter, well known in the Switch community for his work on a custom firmware for the console, found a listing on the eShop store that mentions Fortnite. Alongside the listing SciresM also found the accompanying picture that would be used for the game, essentially confirming the release on Switch.

It looks as though Nintendo will be revealing this officially via their Nintendo Direct that is due to take place on the 12th of June, to coincide with E3.

With Fortnite currently available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and iOS; the Switch is pretty much the last big platform to be missing a version of the game. Fortnite being the cultural phenomenon that it is, means many people are sure to be excited to have a way to play the game on a platform that has been going from strength to strength.

All that remains now is to see how well the Switch can handle Fortnite, the iOS version is impressive but not perfect, so if the Switch can do better it will surely become the de facto portable version of the game.

KitGuru Says: There is no denying the popularity of Fortnite, and for Nintendo, a Switch version can only help sell their already successful console. Are you looking forward to Fortnite on Switch?
