Monster Hunter World officially surpasses 25 million copies sold

Last month, we reported on the overwhelming success of Capcom’s Monster Hunter World, with the 2017 title continuing its reign as the best-selling game in the publisher’s history with 24 million copies sold. Now, Capcom has announced the game’s latest milestone – surpassing 25 million copies.

Making the announcement via a press release, Capcom revealed this impressive statistic as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations, saying:

“With Monster Hunter: World, Capcom drove the Monster Hunter series to global-brand status with a series-first worldwide simultaneous launch and international promotional activities, establishing the game as Capcom’s best-selling title of all time within a month of its release.

They continued, “In the six years since the game’s launch, Capcom has continued to promote digital sales, leading Monster Hunter: World to achieve a new Capcom all-time-record of 25 million cumulative units sold.”

It is worth noting that this 25 million figure includes sales of the game’s Iceborne Master Edition (a bundle of the base game and its expansion) – though this should not take away from World’s undeniable success.

With the game’s long awaited sequel Monster Hunter: Wilds set to arrive some time in 2025, there is still plenty of opportunity for Worlds to continue to cement itself further as Capcom’s Golden Goose.
