Spider-Man 2 patch gives access to the developer menu

Insomniac finally shipped the New Game+ patch for Spider-Man 2 this week, but the update ended up including one major unintended addition. With this update, PS5 owners can actually access the developer menu, something usually locked off to gamers.

Players who discovered the dev menu quickly began playing around with it, allowing users to skip to different parts of the game, swap out characters so you can free-roam as Venom and other perform various other tweaks.

The developer menu also includes a list of missions that aren't actually in the game, leading to fans speculating about potential DLC. These missions appear to relate to another character, Beetle, daughter of Tombstone, who appeared prominently in the first game.

Insomniac is already aware of the situation and is rolling out a hotfix, so if you want to keep access to the developer menu for experimentation, you'll want to switch off automatic updates.

KitGuru Says: The developer menu isn't a magic tool but it is interesting to get access to, giving players a look at the tools developers use to test the game, and the ability to make certain modifications mid-game.
