AMD releases Zen 4-based Ryzen Embedded 8000 processors

AMD's Ryzen Embedded 8000 series CPUs are designed to offer a mix of XDNA NPUs, Zen 4 CPU cores, and RDNA 3 GPU cores. These processors are specifically optimised for workload diversity and adaptability, primarily for industrial environments.

AMD's new embedded processors use the XDNA architecture and AI engines to improve AI performance. The combination of AMD architectures optimises total system performance, resulting in higher TOPS. With these resources available, the entire processor performance can reach up to 39 TOPS (trillion operations per second), with the NPU alone providing up to 16 TOPS.

The AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series processors use the Zen 4 (4nm) core architecture in up to 8-core designs (16 threads). As for the graphics, the AMD RDNA 3 iGPU enables a single AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series CPU to power up to four separate screens at 4K resolution, using hardware decoding and encoding for video codecs such as AV1, H.264, and H.265.

In addition, the AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series CPUs have 20 lanes of on-chip PCIe Gen4, providing sufficient I/O flexibility for specialised accelerators and other add-ons. These CPUs also support dual-channel EEC DDR5 memory (up to 5600 MHz). These are the four Ryzen 8000 series embedded processors:

AMD is collaborating with embedded ODMs such as Advantech, ASRock, and iBASE to provide a diverse ecosystem of platforms for AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series CPUs. Furthermore, AMD Ryzen Embedded Series CPUs provide prolonged product availability and support to ensure a long lifecycle for these processors.
