KitGuru updates benchmarking rig with Overclockers UK

Here at KitGuru we pride ourselves on our detailed, in-depth graphics card reviews. To consistently get the most accurate results, we need top-end hardware to use when benchmarking new GPUs. That's why we have partnered with Overclockers UK to update our GPU test rig with the Germanium pre-built system.

This system sports top-end components across the board – including the i7-8700K (overclocked to 4.9GHz no less), with an ASUS ROG Z370 motherboard and 16GB of fast Team Group DDR4 memory. These parts are vital as we need the fastest components possible to ensure that our graphics cards are not being bottlenecked by any other parts.

500GB of NVMe goodness is provided thanks to the Samsung 960 EVO, while we also have 3TB of mass storage thanks to a Seagate hard drive. The SuperFlower Leadex II 850W power supply also ensures we have enough juice on-tap to power even the most demanding of graphics cards, while an OCUK TechLabs 240mm liquid cooler is keeping our i7-8700K's temperature in-check.

Not only is the system fast, but it looks good too thanks to the RGB lighting which is synchronised via ASUS' Aura. The Phanteks Enthoo Evolv TG also means we get a clear, unobstructed view of our test system.

The full system spec is as follows:
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K Overclocked to 4.9GHz
  • Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz Team Group Dark Hawk RGB Dual Channel Kit
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming
  • Cooler: OcUK Tech Labs 240mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
  • Primary Solid State Drive: Samsung 960 EVO Polaris 500GB M.2 NVMe Sold State Drive
  • Storage Hard Drive: Seagate 3TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
  • Power Supply: SuperFlower Leadex II 850W 80Plus Gold Rated PSU
  • Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass Mid Tower Case – Black

What's more, you can actually buy the very same system from Overclockers UK HERE. That means you will own the exact same PC that KitGuru uses for all of our graphics card reviews. The Germanium is currently on offer too, with a £200 discount, so if you've been after a high-end gaming rig, this is about as good as they get.

You can also read our full review of the system HERE.

KitGuru says: The Germanium will be used for all of our graphics card reviews from here on. Stay tuned for a look at the new ASRock RX 580 in the coming weeks.
