After a month of being available over in the US, the Oculus Go is finally making its way across the Atlantic to European shores. The first ‘all in one' VR solution from Oculus aims to replace the need for smartphone-specific VR headsets, like the Gear VR, or Google Daydream headsets.
Just over a month ago, Oculus released the Go to the US market, where it sold out almost immediately. VR enthusiasts in other markets had to wait their turn, but today is the day that the Oculus Go is now available in both Europe and Canada. Here in the UK, the 32GB version costs £199 and the 64GB version will set you back £249.
The Oculus Go features a 2560×1440 “fast-switch” LCD screen and is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor. You also get a motion controller, and the headset has integrated speakers.
Mobile VR has been getting a lot of attention lately. The BBC has been streaming every single World Cup match via VR, and the newly released Oculus TV brings live and on-demand video to the Oculus Go. Other services like YouTube and Netflix also have apps available for the Oculus Go, giving you a very different viewing experience compared to a traditional screen.
KitGuru Says: It’s good to see the Oculus Go finally released in other markets. It has gotten praise from a lot of VR enthusiasts and I am sure it will perform just as well in Europe and Canada as it did the US. Would you buy an Oculus Go?
