Nintendo says Switch usage is about 50/50 between docked and handheld

It is hard to argue against the success of the Nintendo Switch. Many people thought the concept would fail but it has revitalised Nintendo's position in the market and given some games new life. Nintendo’s hybrid decision has caught on as intended too, as telemetry data shows that both handheld and docked modes are about even in usage.

Nintendo’s Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Doug Bowser, revealed this information during an interview with Arstechnica. Bowser said that the different play modes were “about even—about 50 percent in the dock and 50 percent away from the dock.”.

What’s also interesting is how most people play certain games. As you’d expect, a game such as Just Dance is played primarily in docked mode. Games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are both balanced in terms of play type.

It is worth noting that these numbers only come from users that are using online Nintendo accounts, so the numbers may be skewed somewhat.
