Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is getting a VR version

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice released a year ago to much critical praise. It had fantastic voice and motion capture work, in addition to very engaging gameplay. Now, Ninja Theory has announced that a VR version of the game will be available at the end of the month as a free update to owners and prospective buyers.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is getting a full VR version, which will support both the Oculus Rift and HTC VIVE. The VR update will be coming out on the 31st of July and will be free to everyone that already owns or buys the game in the future. Ninja Theory made the announcement and talked through the development process in the video below:

The video describes the issues the development team faced while making Hellblade VR. While the bulk of Ninja Theory was working on the main game, a small team worked on a VR version, which ended up being a passion project for the studio.

The VR version of Hellblade is going to be quite difficult to run, with the minimum requirements calling for a GTX 1080. With that in mind, coupled with the fact that Microsoft now owns Ninja Theory, we aren't expecting a PSVR version.

KitGuru Says: Hellblade was a fantastic game, and a VR version almost seems perfect for its themes. Will you be trying out Hellblade VR?
