Logitech acquires Blue Microphones

Logitech and Blue Microphones are both well known in the PC space for different reasons. Logitech makes fantastic gaming peripherals, and Blue make fantastic audio equipment. Now, both companies will be teaming up, as Logitech has acquired Blue Microphones for $117 million.

The acquisition was announced earlier today. Going forward, the plan is to have the Blue Microphones brand continue to exist as its own brand under the Logitech umbrella. Blue is of course best known for the Yeti and Snowball microphones, both of which have proven popular with newcomers to Twitch, YouTube and podcasters.

Blue Microphones CEO, John Maier, sees this as a fantastic move for both companies “Blue and Logitech have a lot in common. Both companies work at being small, fast and hungry, crafting great products with cutting-edge design and technology. We’re an established leader in the broadcasting space with a strong product portfolio. Logitech has design at its heart, tech know-how and global reach. Together we can do amazing things.”

Logitech manufactures a lot of different PC peripherals, including webcams and headsets. The acquisition of Blue could potentially lead to great improvements on that side of things. Perhaps we'll see the Logitech headset range revamped with Blue's expertise in microphones.

KitGuru Says: Providing Blue continues to release great microphones at every price point, it’s hard to see this deal as a bad thing. Do you think that Logitech will allow Blue to do what they do best?
