Sea of Thieves’ PS5 release offers 120fps, DualSense features and more

As part of Microsoft’s recent shift toward a more multiplatform approach with its first-party games, the console manufacturer has released Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush to the PlayStation 5. Next up is Sea of Thieves, with the team at Rare confirming cross-play, cross-progression, 120fps and more.

Publishing an FAQ of sorts to their blog, the team at Rare offered a ton of new details ahead of the 30th of April PS5 release for Sea of Thieves.

First thing’s first, the game will include cross-progression, with PS5 players able to link their accounts in order to synchronise “Commendations, cosmetics, Twitch Drops and accumulated gold, Doubloons and Ancient Coins.”

Alongside cross-progression, Sea of Thieves on PS5 will allow players to enable or disable cross-play, meaning PS5 players can sail and plunder with their friends no matter the system of choice.

As with the Xbox version, Sea of Thieves on PS5 will offer a 4k60fps mode alongside a 1080p/120fps option for complete parity.

That said, the PS5 release will include some nifty unique features – primarily related to the DualSense controller. Though the team confirmed that there are no plans for a PSVR2 version of the game, Sea of Thieves on PS5 will support the DualSense’s haptics, triggers and speaker/mic for an overall added sense of immersion.

The full FAQ can be found HERE, but all in all it seems as though Rare are going about things regarding the PS5 release of Sea of Thieves in the best way possible. It will be interesting to see how the game is received upon its PS5 launch.
