EVO is the king of fighting game tournaments at this point. Over the years, games like Street Fighter and Smash Bros have dominated popularity at the event, but this year things have changed. Back in January, we saw the launch of Dragonball FighterZ and thanks to plenty of post-release updates, the game is still going strong, taking the top spot at EVO this year.
EVO organiser, Joey Cuellar, revealed the final entrant counts for each game at EVO this year. Coming in at number one was Dragonball FighterZ with 2,530 entrants, beating out former favourite Street Fighter V. With that said, Street Fighter V isn't too far behind with 2,420 entrants. You can see the full list and the number of entrants for each game below:

Street Fighter V lost around 200 entrants from EVO last year. In 2017, the game hit a peak of 2,622 entrants for the tournament, Dragonball FighterZ didn't hit the same peak, but ARC Systemworks' latest and greatest seems to be doing the business for many fans.
KitGuru Says: It’s good to see Dragonball FighterZ doing well. Arc System Work’s hard work has paid off, and they now have the premier fighting game at the biggest event in the fighting game community.
