EA is setting up a $1 million fund to support victims of Jacksonville shooting

Tragedy struck last weekend after a shooting took place at a Madden 2019 tournament. Many figureheads in the esports world have since spoken out on the issue and EA even pledged to bolster security at future events. In addition to that, EA has established a fund to support the victims of the incident.

Earlier today, EA tweeted out details of the Jacksonville tribute fund and livestream. There will be a $1 million fund to support the victims, including the families of Eli ‘TrueBoy’ Clayton and Taylor ‘SpotMeplzzz’ Robertson, who were unfortunately killed during the attack. Beyond that, EA is hoping to set up an additional fund to collect community donations.

The announcement from EA reads: “The events last weekend in Jacksonville will impact the gaming community forever. We can't begin to understand the pain so many are going through, nor do we pretend to have all the answers that will help us through the healing process. But as is so often the case, our community inspires us. The way you are coming together, and the outpouring of support for all those affected by this tragedy, is incredibly uplifting. We want to join you.”

The first contribution will be $1 million to support the victims. EA will also be hosting a Jacksonville tribute livestream on Thursday the 6th of September, which will be open for community donations who want to help those affected by the attack.

KitGuru Says: Last weekend was shocking and incredibly sad for the gaming community. All we can do now is show our support and hope that we can stop something like this from happening again.
