Bioware talks Anthem dialogue, single-player and future demo

During a PAX West panel over the weekend, Bioware released several important details about Anthem. There is a new trailer out, but we also have news on a future demo, how conversation options work and how story-telling will be handled.

As we learned a few weeks ago, Anthem is based on this ‘our world, your story' concept. Fort Tarsis will be a single-player area and this is where players will be forwarding the story and taking part in conversations. Like most Bioware games, there will be dialogue options, but players will only get two options, whereas past Bioware games tend to have a much more complex conversation system in place.

As you would expect, Anthem is being treated as a ‘live service' game, which means microtransactions will be in place to keep bringing in money but in return, future story DLCs will be free. Don't expect a Mass Effect level story this time around though, as Anthem is primarily a multiplayer-focussed game. NPC dialogue open-world missions will differ between players but everyone is working towards one predetermined objective.

Previously we thought that Anthem might get a beta test before the end of the year. Now, it looks like we'll be getting a ‘demo' version instead. The Anthem Demo will be launching on the 1st of February 2019, a few weeks ahead of the game's final launch.

KitGuru Says: There is still a big question mark floating over Anthem. One thing is for sure, it is going to be very different compared to other Bioware games. Are any of you planning on trying the game once the demo becomes available?
