The Witcher will now hit Netflix in 2019

There have been plenty of updates surrounding Netflix's ‘The Witcher' this week. The series finale is in the works, Henry Cavill will be playing Geralt and now, the premiere date has been updated, bringing it forward from 2020 and into 2019.

Progress on the show has been going smoothly all year. In February the pilot script was finished, after that, the team announced that season one would comprise of eight episodes and that filming would take place in Europe. At this point, those episode scripts seem to mostly be crafted and with casting making headway, Netflix appears to be fast-tracking the series.

Originally, we were expecting The Witcher to air in 2020 but as you can see from the update above, this has since been updated to 2019. Aside from sharing the new release window with us, showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich also discussed the decision to cast Henry Cavill as Geralt in a bit more detail:

“I met Henry in April. Over the next four months, I met/reviewed hundreds of other potential leads, many of whom were amazing. But what I never forgot was Henry's deeply insightful understanding of Geralt's strength and brutality, and more importantly, his wit and vulnerability.”

KitGuru Says: The Witcher series will be with us sooner than expected, which is great news for fans. Are you all still looking forward to checking out the show?
