Nintendo’s Switch Online subscription launches late next month

We've known about Nintendo's Switch Online service since the console first launched. While the service was supposed to go live last year, Switch owners ended up getting an extra year of free online multiplayer access. That will be changing in the second half of September though, as the subscription will officially be introduced.

Nintendo's Switch Online service will cost $19.99 per year, $7.99 per three months, or $3.99 per month. Those who subscribe will get access to online multiplayer and will gain access to “a library of classic games”. Free to play games are rumoured to not require the online subscription.

The launch date for Switch Online has bounced around a lot but Nintendo seems to be ‘locked in' on a September launch. Today, we learned that this would be the second-half of September, rather than the first half, so there is still a short while to wait.

KitGuru Says: While I would prefer to not have to pay for multiplayer, at least Nintendo is on the cheaper end of the spectrum. How many of you currently own a Switch? Will you be subscribing to or avoiding the Online service?
