IFA 2018: ASUS launches slew of new ZenBooks and two new ROG laptops

ASUS had a fairly big showing at IFA this year, with the unveiling of several new ZenBook laptops and a couple of ROG offerings. The ZenBooks are the highlight here, with an all-new design that heavily reduces bezels. There's even some new Intel chips under the hood to boost performance.

The ZenBook 15 is the flagship. It comes with a 92% screen-to-body ratio, an Intel Core i7-8565U or Core i5-8265U depending on the model, up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Max-Q graphics card. The display comes in 4K and 1080p variants and there are different sized SSD storage options. Personally, the think I like the most about it is the funky trackpad.

The ZenBook 13 and 14 are closer together in spec. Both come with a 1080p Nano Edge display (92% screen to body ratio), an Intel 8th Gen Core i5 or Core i7 and an Nvidia MX150 graphics card.

With these new ZenBook models, ASUS has upgraded to Intel's 8th Gen processors, increased screen-to-body ratio and created a more compact design overall. According to Asus, these new ZenBooks have the smallest footprint in the Ultrabook class. Each model is tested to withstand extreme environmental conditions. This includes high altitudes, high temperatures and drops, shocks or vibrations.

Each new ZenBook comes with a 3D infrared camera for Face recognition login, even in dimly lit rooms. They also come with Amazon Alexa support, so you'll be able to utilise advanced voice controls. Finally, USB 3.1 Gen 2 is included, paving the way for super fast transfer speeds.

The battery under the hood is rated to work all day on a single charge. You should get around 16 hours from the ZenBook 15 and 14 hours from the ZenBook 13 and 14.

There were two ROG laptops sitting at the booth- both of which we took a sneak peek at a few weeks ago. The ASUS ROG GX531 Zephyrus S preview can be found HERE and the ASUS TUF Gaming FX705 preview can be found HERE.

KitGuru Says: The new ZenBooks are all very sleek. Pricing is still up in the air, but we should hear more in the coming months.
