Raijintek quells Small Form Factor cooling fears by launching the watercooled Ophion EVO

While built with the intention of reducing the footprint of users, the decreased size of Small Form Factor (SFF) cases often meant cooling would take a hit. Raijintek has challenged this notion with its thermal-focused Ophion and Ophion EVO chassis, the latter of which supports AIO watercooling.

Both cases sport a near-identical design, with a clever dual-chamber design that separates the motherboard from the graphics card, housing them back to back. This is made possible with the included 250mm PCIe 16x Gen 3 Riser cable, ensuring efficient and effective cooling of all components.

Users can showcase the motherboard or GPU however they wish, as Raijintek has placed 3mm thick glass panels on each side. Alongside cooling from three 120mm fans, users can optionally add the provided spacers to remove the glass panels from their flush fit against the case, in turn creating a better airflow.

Within the black, brushed, anodised aluminium frame, both the Ophion and Ophion EVO are built to fit Mini-ITX motherboards, ATX power supplies, graphics cards up to 330mm and CPU tower coolers up to 85mm. The Ophion can fit up to three 2.5-inch drives or a single 3.5-inch HDD, while the larger space of the Ophion EVO adds room for another 2.5-inch drive, making four in total. This extra headroom allows the Ophion EVO to fit a watercooling radiator up to 240mm on its roof.

Both cases are available for pre-order on OverclockersUK, with the smaller Raijintek Ophion coming in at £119.99 while the larger Ophion EVO will set customers back £129.95.

KitGuru Says: Dual-chamber designs are nothing new, however it’s interesting to see how much effort Raijintek has gone through to ensure its Ophion cases remain a viable option for demanding tasks while retaining its SFF size. What do you think of the Ophion and Ophion EVO?
