Google reportedly set for Pixel 3 launch on October 9th

Google isn’t far off unveiling its brand new third-generation Pixel devices, but before the company can put an official stamp on anything, we have yet more leaks to sift through. As rumours have indicated, it looks as though Google will be ditching the 3.5mm jack with the Pixel 3 XL, but will attempt to make it up to customers by including an adapter and a pair of Pixel Bud-like headphones.

The latest leak looks to be the clearest yet, with YouTube channel In DIGI showcasing a full unboxing of Google’s Pixel 3 XL in Full HD. The video lines up with the many leaks we’ve seen so far, corroborating the appearance of a deep notch housing dual front-facing cameras, a thick chin, a single rear-facing camera and a glass back that’s been speculated to enable the device for wireless charging.

Google looks to have bundled this version of the Pixel 3 XL device with #teampixel stickers housed within a pouch, the standard USB-C charging cable, USB-C to USB-A adapter, a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter for older headphones, and an AC wall adapter. The firm is hoping to move its users away from aging 3.5mm-based headphones, however, by including a pair of what looks like a wired version of Google’s Pixel Buds. Pixel Buds debuted alongside the Pixel 2 last year as Google's wireless headphone solution integrated with Google Assistant.

Previously, it was thought that Google was set to launch its Pixel 3 range on October 4th, the same date its predecessors were unveiled in both 2016 and 2017. Bloomberg’s sources familiar with the project contest this speculation, however, stating that the firm will instead opt for an October 9th release, moving from its usual spot in San Francisco to New York City.

KitGuru Says: It’s only a small change in the expected unveiling, with still nothing confirmed officially by Google itself. If anything, the bigger worry is how the device will perform as Pixel 3 and 3 XL leaks have seen an overwhelmingly negative reception so far.
