Cooler Master refreshes its CPU coolers with Hyper 212 Black Edition series

Alleviating woes of Intel’s 9th generation shipping without an air cooler, Cooler Master has once again refreshed its ultra-popular Hyper 212 line. Designed as more than just a new coat of paint, the Hyper 212 Black Edition and RGB Black Edition are built to make upgrading easier than ever.

Cooler Master has endowed the Hyper 212 Black Edition and RGB Black Edition with a new ‘Snap and Play’ feature, ensuring a hassle-free upgrade. This is all thanks to an intuitive bracket design that allows users to easily remove and replace the fan.

Of course, both coolers move away from the metallic greys and silvers, covering the aluminium top cover, nickel plated fins and heat pipes caps in a mix of jet black and gunmetal black. The upward-facing logo is complimented with a brushed aluminium finish for “an upgraded premium aesthetic appeal.”

As usual with the Hyper 212 air coolers, heat dissipation is paramount. Both versions feature a stacked fin array to decrease airflow resistance and four heat pipes with Exclusive Direct Contact Technology to further cool the user’s CPU.

The primary difference between the two is the provided fan. The Hyper 212 Black Edition ships with a Silencio FP120 fan, built for with exclusive Silent Driver IC technology for quiet and power efficient operation. The Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition, however, comes with a New SF120R RGB Fan that synchronises with the motherboard’s RGB software for customisable lighting effects. It also affords the user the ability to adjust between cooling performance and silent operation.

Both Hyper 212 coolers are available this month, with the Black Edition costing £29.99 and the RGB Black Edition sitting at £42.99.

KitGuru Says: Black coats of paint tend to look a lot better to me, making it a welcome move on Cooler Master’s part. Will the Hyper 212 be your cooler of choice when you upgrade?
