Google will let you stream Assassin’s Creed Odyssey from Chrome with Project Stream

We already knew that Ubisoft would be bringing Assassin's Creed Odyssey to the cloud for Nintendo Switch owners in Japan but it looks like the game will be streamable in other parts of the world too. Today, Google announced Project Stream, which will let people play demanding games, like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, straight from the Chrome browser.

In a blog post, Google explained that game streaming is a “technically complex process” and the company hopes to use this public test as a way to “solve some of the biggest challenges” facing game streaming today.

Google recognises that while users are content with a little bit of buffering when streaming TV or movies, that won't be the case when streaming video games. Google's aim will be to bring down latency and offer the best graphical experience possible while streaming.

Project Stream will be having a closed technical test this year, which you can register for on the Project Stream website. In return, you'll get to stream Assassin's Creed Odyssey for free, although possibly only for a limited time. Game streaming on Google's end carries the same network requirements as 4K streaming on Netflix, so make sure your connection is at least 25 megabits per second.

KitGuru Says: A lot of the games industry is going to be pushing cloud gaming and trying to really nail the tech down in preparation for next-gen. Have any of you tried a cloud gaming service before? I always thought Nvidia's streaming service worked quite well on the Shield Tablet back in the day.
