Nvidia updates status of unshipped RTX 2080Ti pre-orders

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Nvidia was struggling to keep up with pre-order demand for the RTX 2080Ti Founders Edition. At the time, pre-orders were set to be fulfilled between the 20th and 27th of September, with general availability commencing immediately after that. However, more delays have come in to play, which Nvidia has now given an update on.

Earlier this week, Nvidia began shipping out RTX 2080Ti Founders Edition units to those who pre-ordered in time to receive a September shipping date. Right now, the company plans to have all of those orders fulfilled by the 5th of October. Those who missed the September cut off and received an October shipping date originally, should get their card by the 10th of October.

All of this information comes from one of Nvidia's moderators over at the GeForce forum. Here is the quote: “Today we began shipping GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition to those who pre-ordered from NVIDIA.com and had an original ship date in September. These will all ship by October 5th. GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition pre-orders on NVIDIA.com with an original ship date in October will ship by October 10, 2018. You will receive an email with tracking details once your order has shipped.”

General availability for Founders Edition cards wasn't touched on but we can expect an update on that this month. Those getting their cards late are actually coming in at a good time, as Microsoft began rolling out the DirectX Raytracing API as part of a Windows 10 update last night. That means that games with RTX features will work out of the box, including Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the upcoming Battlefield V.

KitGuru Says: We aren't sure what exactly caused these delays, but it must have been frustrating for eager buyers. Did any of you pre-order an RTX 2080Ti Founders Edition? Are you still waiting for yours to come through?
