Roll7 are known best for their work on the OlliOlli franchise; a series of fast-paced trick-based 2D skateboarding titles. Their latest new IP – Rollerdrome – takes a similar concept…with the small additions of 3D movement and guns. Released a little over 6 months ago, the game has now surpassed 1 million players.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the folks at Roll7 said “We recently surpassed 1 million Rollerdrome players! A massive thank you to our ONE MILLION PLAYERS. Lets go Karaaaaaa woooooo!!!”
For the uninitiated, Rollerdrome is a combo-focused arena-based roller skating game in which you must eliminate enemies with various weapons all the while doing cool tricks in order to replenish your ammo.
Offering a low skill floor but a high ceiling, Rollerdrome is a ton of fun, and so its success is welcome to see.
That said, it is worth noting that the game was given away to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers back in February – so the recent influx likely contributed to this milestone. Regardless, it is exciting to see over 1 million players skating into the Rollerdrome.
