Ubisoft cancels second ‘Epic Mercenary’ mission for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Odyssey has been out for a while now but it looks like Ubisoft is still struggling with its end-game content plans. Ubisoft plans to keep bringing players back to Odyssey with weekly live events, where you track down legendary mercenaries for better gear. The first weekly event had to be canceled and unfortunately, the publisher has had no success with round two.

This week, Ubisoft announced that this week's Epic Mercenary event has been canceled, once again due to technical difficulties. Over on the Assassin's Creed Odyssey Twitter account, the publisher wrote: “Remember Damais the Indifferent? So far we've had no success in tracking him down, so, unfortunately, there won't be a live event this week.”

Ubisoft's live event schedule for Odyssey calls for an Epic Mercenary and Epic Ship mission on alternating weeks. The Epic Ship contract did occur last week, so the developers seem to be having more luck with that one.

For whatever reason, putting legendary mercenaries in the world is causing issues. Next week there will be a second Epic Ship contract to tide players over and hopefully by the following week, the mercenary bug will be ironed out.

KitGuru Says: I'm not close to max level in Odyssey yet but for those that have already reached end-game, I can see why this would be disappointing. Ubisoft plans to keep supporting Odyssey well into 2019 so hopefully we'll see these issues ironed out sooner rather than later.
